Event Description

UNM Bookstore Celebrates National Poetry Month: Wednesday at Noon Poetry Series!

This week, Wednesday at Noon Poetry Series features Felecia Caton Garcia & Andi Penner.

Felecia Caton Garcia is the author of a chapbook, Pos orale!, and currently teaches writing and cultural studies at Central New Mexico Community College. Her latest book of poetry Say That was recently published by UNM Press.

Dr. Andrea (Andi) Millenson Penner came to New Mexico to study at UNM in 1994 from Flagstaff, Arizona where she had completed her MA Thesis on Navajo poet, Luci Tapahonso. Under the direction of Patricia Clark Smith and Louis Owens, she completed her dissertation on Native American women writers, and taught first-year composition, ESL, and American Literature. From 2002 to 2011, Andi lived in Farmington, NM, teaching all things "English" at San Juan College, and managing an energy training partnership. She is pleased to be home again, in the shadow of the Sandias. Her first collection of poetry, When East Was North, was published in 2012 by Mercury Heartlink.
