A Symposium to Honor the Life and Work of John Redhouse

Event Description:
This one-day symposium honors the life and work of John Redhouse by gathering activists and scholars engaged in Indigenous rights and environmental and social justice organizing in Indian Country and beyond.  Redhouse is a longtime Diné activist and a founder of the 1970s grassroots organizations Indians Against Exploitation in Gallup, NM and the Coalition for Navajo Liberation in Farmington, NM.  He also served as Associate Director of the National Indian Youth Council in Albuquerque.  He has continued to be a vital and influential leader in Indigenous rights and environmental and social justice organizing.  In addition to a public discussion with Redhouse himself, speakers discuss his influence on their work and struggles for liberation that follow in the legacy of his spirit and determination.
