Start Date: 10/15/2013Start Time: 12:00 PM
End Date: 10/15/2013End Time: 1:00 PM

Event Description
Plagiarism - the practice of passing off the work of others as one's own - is a serious offense in academia that carries stiff penalties. The majority of graduate students who engage in plagiarism do so unintentionally, mainly due to a lack of knowledge regarding what constitutes it. This workshop will explain this aspect of academic dishonesty in academic writing and research, give an overview of style manuals for academic writing, and offer tips on how to avoid the common mistakes that result in plagiarism allegations.
