Matthew Mazzotta Presentation
Start Date: 3/26/2014Start Time: 12:00 PM
End Date: 3/26/2014End Time: 1:00 PM

Event Description

Matthew Mazzotta is "a conceptual artist who creates permanent and temporary public interventions that range from opening up new social spaces inside the built environment, to addressing more pressing environmental issues, but always with a focus on community and public participation" (matthewmazzotta.com). Matthew's most recent major project is Open House, which took place in York, Alabama. Through this project, a long-abandoned house in the middle of town has been transformed into an open-air, 100-seat, theater, filling a void for the town. The project was the culmination of an extended conversation with the people of York.

On Friday, March 28, Matthew Mazzotta will present at the next episode of "Show Up Show Down," an exhibit curated by Nancy Zastudil and sponsored by the Downtown Action Team and Creative ABQ (http://www.downtownacd.org/tart/). He will share his work and approach in a 12n brown bag lunch at UNM on Wednesday, March 26, in the College of Fine Art, room 2018.
